Asher was quoted for his experiences at the Sandhurst Military Academy Leadership Bootcamp that he participated in.
The EDHEC Family Business GEMBA continues its path in London, one of the 5 international campuses EDHEC. Starting on the 12th of December, this module is all about leadership and governance.
Leadership
Developing your leadership within the business and the family is the cornerstone of the EDHEC Family Business GEMBA. The excellence of leadership is linked to the legitimacy of the leader. As a member or external to the family, legitimacy comes from competencies in terms of managerial practices, as well as the capacity to embody, share and maintain the long-term values coming from the family business history.
During this module, Participants are plunged into a 3-day Leadership Bootcamp at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. They participate to the most intensive and enriching leadership boot camp of their lives.
I was expecting the Sandhurst bootcamp to be one dimensional – physically
demanding. What it turned out to be in addition, was a learning of a lifetime in esprit
de corps, leadership & strategy; all played out on its spacious grounds and inside its
historical rooms. Short of enrolling in the military itself, thanks to this Leadership
Bootcamp, we came in as cadets and graduated as leaders.

About the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst
World famous not just as a military academy but as the training ground of the future statesmen and rulers – Winston Churchill trained here, as did King Hussein and his son the current king Abdullah II of Jordan – the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst is a national icon; its imposing Grand Entrance instantly recognizable around the world.
The Sandhurst experience was one of the highlights of the GEMBA. It gave
me some excellent practical leadership lessons, while the anecdotes provided over
a drink each evening by former British Army Officers were amazing accounts of
real life leadership in incredibly challenging circumstances. It was an inspiring few
days, with many learnings that will last throughout my career as a leader.
Experiencing this surrounded by the history of Sandhurst was an added bonus.
